Proudly hand crafted and hand painted by skilled artisans in Portugal.
Made from natural stoneware clay in a laborious twice-fired high-temperature process. Hand-painted with care and finished with a nontoxic reactive glaze.
Each piece is unique! There will be slight variations between each piece as they are each handmade.
Dishwasher, oven, freezer, and microwave safe. You can literally bake in these amazing bowls in the oven!
These sturdy and lightweight ceramic bowls will provide a striking and one-of-a-kind accent to the dinnerware in any home or event. They will definitely be a conversation piece! The two-tone glaze is a natural flecked white over a speckled beige base. The bowls have two textures: the upper white portion has a high gloss finish while the lower portion has a slightly textured matte "engobe" finish. You'll love the tactile and visual contrast.
Beauty in Imperfection
The bowls are proudly hand-crafted and hand-painted by skilled artisans in Portugal. Each piece is unique! Beginning with a hand-thrown mold, they are twice-fired at high temperatures. They are made from natural stoneware clay with a nontoxic reactive glaze finish. Their extremely low porosity (0.3%) helps prevent chipping and cracking.
The bowls are approximately 6" in diameter and 3 1/8" tall. They hold approximately 16 ounces (2 cups) when filled to the brim, so they are quite generous. The size is versatile enough for everyday use or for entertaining on special occasions with soups, salads, cereals, ice cream, fruit, rice... you name it! The size also works well as a decorative snack, nuts, or candy dish.
Dishwasher, Oven, Freezer, and Microwave Safe!
The bowls are dishwasher safe, but you will also find that they can easily be cleaned by hand. Avoid using abrasive cleaners (steel wool, steel wire scrubbers, etc.)
They are oven safe to 535 degrees Fahrenheit (280 degrees Celsius). As with all ceramic and glass dinnerware (including earthenware, porcelain, and Pyrex), extreme thermal shocks of 375 degrees Fahrenheit (190 degrees Celsius) should be avoided. That is, they should not be subjected to extreme increases or decreases in temperature, when, for example, placed directly in the oven from the refrigerator or freezer, placed directly on a stove, or removed from a hot oven and placed on a wet counter
